                                                 Student Internships Are Available

 

New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU), Achieving in Research Math And Science in Education (ARMAS) and Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) is offering paid internships to students to help them to excel in their chosen fields. Internship programs are geared toward combining academic studies with on-the-job training and experience.

Student opportunities are designed to combine academic studies with on-the-job training and experience and to give students an opportunity to work with the following local agencies while completing their education.

·         Genesys Computer Sales

·         Lisboa Springs Hatchery

·         LV Wildlife Refuge

·         NM Dept of Transportation

·         NM State Forestry

·         NM State Hospital

·         Pritzlaff Ranch-Biophilia Foundation

·         Quivira Coalition

·         U.S. Forest Service

·         Wind River Ranch

·         Las Vegas-San Miguel Veterinary Hospital

Summer 2010 internships are normally for full-time employment (40 hrs/week), for ten weeks. Spring and Fall internship are for 15 hrs/week during the academic semester to allow students the necessary time to study and not affect their course work.   The salary for both Summer and semester internships is $12/hr.  All student applicants must be undergraduate students from NMHU and Luna Community College.  The potential interns must be currently seeking a baccalaureate degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline.
