The NMHU/Rural Northern New Mexico GEAR UP Partnership is a US Department of Education six-year grant designed to increase the number of low-income students who will be prepared to enter and succeed in college. GEAR UP serves an entire cohort of students beginning no later than eighth grade and follows the cohort through high school graduation. GEAR UP offices are located in Industrial Arts of the New Mexico Highlands (NMHU) campus. In 2008-2009, several programs are being utilized in participating school districts to help students realize their full academic potential.
