Here are three scholarship opportunities with approaching application deadlines:

 

1.   Hispanic Scholarship Fund Monsanto Fund

Application deadline: October 1, 2009

$10,000 per year, renewable for second year upon confirmation of continued eligibility.

In addition, students can be considered for a paid internship or co-op opportunity at various Monsanto locations.

 

2.   Hispanic Scholarship Fund Marathon Oil Corporation Scholarship Program

Application Deadline:  November 1, 2009

Up to $15,000 per year.  Selected students may receive up to $15,000 for two academic years for possible total award of $30,000.

In addition, scholars will be offered the opportunity to participate in a possible paid 8-10 week summer internship at various Marathon Oil Corporation locations.  Scholars will be paired with a Marathon Oil Corporation employee who will serve as a professional mentor.

 

3.   NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program

Description:

 

The National Science Foundation aims to ensure the vitality of the human resource base of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in the United States and to reinforce its diversity by offering approximately 1,000 graduate fellowships in this competition.  The Graduate Research Fellowship provides three years of support for graduate study leading to research-based master’s or doctoral degrees and is intended for students who are at the early stages of their graduate study.  The Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) invests in graduate education for a cadre of diverse individuals who demonstrate their potential to successfully complete graduate degree programs in disciplines relevant to the mission of the National Science Foundation.
